SmartInsight is designed from the ground up, to allow both users and business analysts to easily retrieve, report and analyze data in a snap.
Unlimited Reporting Flexibility
Enjoy unlimited possibilities for any type of report – including Consolidated Summary and Cross-Tab reports. Choose the range of data elements you want to include in your report. Create an unlimited number of calculated columns that can be designed to hold the results of calculations based on other fields and columns, or on your own custom formulas. Create reports with multiple filters that can be entered by the user at runtime. Determine the way you want to subtotal and group the data in your reports, and easily drag and drop data columns in charts.
Report Designer
SmartInsight Report Writer boasts a simple-to-use, intuitive and 100% web-based report designer that allows users to define report titles, report footers, required columns, column titles, charts, chart series, group footers, etc. The solution allows for created reports to be tested using its Preview capabilities. Once satisfied that the report is behaving as it should, the user can save and publish the required report.
Publishing and Distribution
SmartInsight Report Writer provides powerful options to allow for publishing capabilities. Create a personalized report or share it with others as you see fit. There are options to make the report fully public, or share with department personnel or specific roles, or even identify specific user names. Easily edit report headers and footers, and instantly see a preview of your report prior to finalizing it. Select the report template to include your company logo and copyright information. Users can easily distribute a report link via e-mail to a defined list of people, enabling up-to-date, accurate reports to be quickly available.
Expression Builder
The solution provides more than 100 built-in expression functions to allow a user to tailor the report information to be presented. Expressions include Calculation expressions, Hyperlinking expressions, Date Formatting expressions, String Formatting expressions, and more. The expression builder allows for drag-and-drop expression building, and provides a syntax checker to ensure that the expressions can be built and tested easily.
Import/Export
SmartInsight Report Writer recognizes that customers will have more than one environment in which the system may be used. A report can be created and tested in a Test environment, can be exported and imported into the Validation environment, and then migrated into Production. The export and import capability is critical for any company that has a stringent requirement to follow change control before using a report.
Report Data Model
Reporting against an application is typically limited to the different published data models (table joins) within the application. SmartInsight recognizes this limitation imposed by typical report writing solutions, and removes this barrier for business users to easily view the different views and tables within the application by allowing the users to create new views with the relevant joins and create a reporting data model. This reporting data model can then be used to create new reports, thus allowing the use of customer-created logical data model(s).
