Lifecore Purchases Key Process Management Solutions from Pilgrim Software
Tampa, FL – February 5, 2007-- Pilgrim Software, Inc., a world-leading provider of Enterprise Compliance & Quality Management (ECQM) software solutions, today announced that Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCBM) has purchased Pilgrim’s SmartSolve® product to manage several key internal processes at its Chaska, MN headquarters. Lifecore is an international manufacturer of biomaterials and medical and surgical devices, including dental implant systems and bone regenerative products.
Lifecore had previously used a manually-intensive documentation system. As a high-growth emerging company, Lifecore’s management felt that the manual process did not sufficiently address its needs. Lifecore examined a number of quality and compliance suppliers that specialize in automating key processes, and recognizing the benefits of integrating its processes with systems built on industry best practices, selected Pilgrim Software’s out-of-the-box, integrated SmartSolve solutions. SmartSolve can fulfill all of Lifecore’s requirements for documentation, as well as training, calibration and supplier management.
Lifecore will implement Pilgrim’s SmartDoc, as well as SmartTrain to manage employee training scheduling and certification tracking, Calibration System for equipment and measurement devices management, and Supplier Focus for supplier quality management and material certification.
“SmartSolve helps biotechnology companies like Lifecore reduce their potential exposure to 21 CFR Part 11 regulatory risk. Lifecore is proactively taking the first step by implementing SmartDoc to reduce document cycle times and manual efforts that sometimes lead to the types of errors that no company can afford,” said Nikki Willett, Pilgrim’s Vice President of Marketing and Regulatory Products. “Each SmartSolve module will provide Lifecore with greater process control, as well as accelerated response rates and overall enhanced business performance.”
Lifecore initially is implementing the SmartSolve solutions at is Corporate Headquarters in Minnesota, and anticipates rollout to additional divisional sites at a later date.
