Genzyme Rolls Out Global Implementation of SmartCAPA from Pilgrim Software
Tampa, FL – November 20, 2006 – Pilgrim Software, Inc., a world-leading provider of Enterprise Compliance and Quality Management (ECQM) software solutions, today announced that Genzyme Corporation (NASDAQ: GENZ) has begun the worldwide rollout of Pilgrim’s SmartCAPA solution at multiple sites and divisions across the United States. The enterprise-wide CAPA management system will be live across Genzyme’s global operations by the year’s end.
Genzyme selected SmartCAPA to provide a common platform for managing deviations and resulting CAPA activities, and to standardize its global CAPA processes. This fall, Genzyme, having implemented a common workflow CAPA process across its other facilities and divisions, prepared to conduct rolling deployments of SmartCAPA at its sites worldwide.
SmartCAPA is designed specifically to address the corrective action/preventive action, non-conformance processes and products of an entire organization from the administrative office to the product floor. It manages the complete cycle of action from the detection phase to the final resolution of the issue.
“Pilgrim consultants worked closely with Genzyme to complete the global migration of data from their existing SmartCAPA system to the next enterprise level within four months,” said Steve Demmi, Pilgrim’s Vice President of Operations. “The efficient migration enabled Genzyme to quickly begin realizing the benefits of our scalable CAPA management system built on a common workflow process across the entire enterprise.
With a common workflow in place across all its sites and divisions, Genzyme will maintain ongoing management oversight into quality and compliance issues. With further improvements to its CAPA process efficiencies, the company will realize overall cost savings and sustain a high level of customer satisfaction, further solidifying Genzyme’s reputation as a reliable supplier.
“In addition to driving functional improvements to internal CAPA processes,” Demmi said, “Genzyme can rest assured that the enterprise-wide implementation of SmartCAPA will support its compliance with FDA requirements at every one of its sites as well.”
Genzyme’s global enterprise will be live with the Pilgrim’s SmartCAPA solution by the end of November.
