Community Blood Centers of South Florida (CBCSF) Expands Implementation of Pilgrim Software’s SmartCAPA

Tampa, FL – March 27, 2006 –
Pilgrim Software, Inc., the leading provider of Enterprise Compliance and Quality Management Solutions, today announced that Community Blood Centers of South Florida (CBCSF) has gone live with expanded implementation of Pilgrim Software’s SmartCAPA quality solution.

As a provider of over 75 percent of the blood transfusion needs for Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, CBCSF has been providing hospitals and other healthcare facilities with blood and blood products since 1975, and currently operates 18 donor centers in the quad-county area.

CBCSF initially turned to Pilgrim Software in an effort to eliminate a manual process for managing quality and compliance.  Following initial implementation of SmartCAPA at seven donor centers in April 2005, CBCSF again teamed with Pilgrim’s Professional Services experts to further address its correction and preventive action needs.  On account of the scalability and flexibility of Pilgrim’s solutions, CBCSF was able to implement SmartCAPA in several phases, which also allowed them time to familiarize themselves with the product before expanding it to additional sites and implementing additional functionalities.  In the second phase of SmartCAPA implementation, Pilgrim guided CBCSF in extending the scope of the SmartCAPA implementation to deploy it at 11 additional South Florida donor centers in four months.

“Pilgrim’s dedicated Professional Services team worked side-by-side with our people to outline and implement a second phase of CAPA support in a well-timed context,” said CBCSF Quality Director Andy Mayer.  “The second phase included defining product and customer exceptions and issues, as well as escalation processes.  The validation phase followed suit and was concluded in just one month.  Pilgrim’s technical and domain expertise, and the efficiency with which they executed both the initial and follow-up phases, has elevated CBCSF to a new level of operational excellence.”

“Pilgrim worked with CBCSF to conduct a phased deployment of our solution, ensuring the smoothest possible transfer of technology and knowledge, and respecting CBCSF’s resource allocations and constraints at the time,” said Prashanth Rajendran, Chief Operating Officer of Pilgrim Software. “Now, with Pilgrim’s SmartCAPA in place at all of their blood center sites, CBCSF will be able to increase the connectivity and quality of information which will facilitate their compliance reporting.”

Pilgrim Software currently is outlining steps to address CBCSF’s auditing processes with Pilgrim’s SmartAudit solution that will advance CBCSF to yet the next level of operational excellence.
